Mobile learning service Funzi and UN Association of Finland have together realized a mobile learning course on sustainable decision-making. The course, available to everyone for free, introduces the Sustainable Development Goals and supports promoting them on the local level, in Finnish municipalities.
The mobile course is extremely suitable for the candidates of this spring’s municipal elections, who are looking to strengthen their knowledge on sustainable development. The course is available directly in the browser of all mobile devices. It is also suited for individual residents and will continue to be freely available after the municipal elections.
“Our future is dependent on how well we are able to include sustainability in decision that are made now. You and the decisions you make are therefore a part of the future we will share.”
“The Sustainable Development Goals will be realized only if the same principles steer also local decision-making. Therefore it is important that municipal decisionmakers are familiar with the goals set together at the UN. Especially decisions on energy, transportation or waste management are directly those that should take long-term sustainability into account. That is why we have wanted to include also good examples of projects like these in Finnish municipalities in the mobile course,” says the Executive Director of the UN Association of Finland, Helena Laukko.
The mobile course is available for free on any mobile browser at https://funzi.mobi/learn/sustainable-decision-making, in light daily doses. The course is available in both Finnish and English, and completion of the course is awarded by a badge. The UN Development Program (UNDP) has taken part in producing the course.
The user can also nominate examples from their own municipality, where sustainable decision-making has in some way been supported or a project on sustainable development has been carried out. The UN Association of Finland will publish the best examples closer to the municipal elections, which will also be included in the mobile course material. The hashtag for the competition on social media is #kestäväkunta.
“Mobile learning on Funzi focuses on livelihood and wellbeing, like improving skills on entrepreneurship and job seeking.
